Summer Mayhem
As promised, I returned to the garden yesterday (July 12) to fight the good fight and weed. It was just my luck to pick one of the hottest days of summer to do it. And to make matters worse, I didn't get to weed until the afternoon. Yikes! It was hot and I sweated off a few pounds. Take a look at the mess I was dealing with - bolted plants, plants gone to seed, and weeds! Luckily my girlfriend stopped by and told me that dill seeds are tasty and are used as a breath freshener in India. I tasted it and she was right! So if you stop by and the dill has gone to seed you should try it too.
Now that I've weeded, I can see what awesome plants we have. Come harvest some tomatoes, beet greens, swiss chard, kale, herbs, and flowers. I took a bunch of swiss chard and plan on having it for supper tonight. I can't wait. The garden doesn't look pretty, but it's not bad considering it hasn't been tended to regularly. If you do stop by, feel free to pull a weed or two!
