Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins!
A big thanks to the Wilbank's Family for donating pumpkins to adorn the front entrance of the school. This week the Garden Club selected a handful to decorate. An important aspect of the Junior Master Gardener program is "leadership and community service". The older kids demonstrated their leadership skills by partnering up with the younger one's to decorate pumpkins together. We (the adults) were impressed with how attentively the older kids listened to their partners and worked together with them to create their masterpieces. Thank so much to Molly Crouch, Maddox's mom, and Grayson, Nora's mom, for helping out. It was a messy affair and fun, fun, fun! Come see our masterpieces. They should be out later this week (after they dry & get shellaced).

PansiesThanks so much to Miller Farm for selling us pansies at cost. The kids planted a dozen pots of beautiful pansies of all different colors around the front entrance of the school. Unfortunately my camera battery died and I don't have any photos of the kids planting them :-( You'll just have to use your imagination and picture smiling, laughing kids deciding which color pansy to select, where to plant it, and then planting it. Here are some photos of the fabulous pansies. Miller Farm had so many beautiful colors, it was hard to choose.

Vegetable Garden VisitWe visited the vegetable garden and the kids were excited to see everything growing so well. They were especially excited to see how quickly the ryegrass germinated. It looks like fresh grown grass. Some kids commented on how soft and beautiful it was. The kids picked some parsley to feed the caterpillars in first grade.
