Taking Care of the Gardens

Mother nature has been good to us with warm sunny days and the occassional rain.  The garden continues to explode!  Luckily the kids are still excited about weeding the gardens and thinning out the radishes!!  Even the throw-away radishes are starting to look big enough to eat, so that's what some of the kids did.  They were happy until they got a shocking "hot" aftertaste.

Repotting Plants

The seeds we sowed three weeks ago were outgrowing their pots, so we decided to repot them.  Tina brought in some of her really good potting soil.  The kids learned about the benefits of rabbit poops as manure.

Next Week

We only have two sessions left!  Next week will be dedicated to "composting".  Tina will bring in her "worms" and talk about worm composting.

Let Us Pick Lettuce

Everyone got in the action of picking lettuce.  We had enough for a salad and for everyone to take some home.  And there's still more growing in the garden.  How great is that?

Making Salad

We made a salad using the lettuce from our garden, sliced strawberries from the market, craisins, and Brianna's Blush Wine Vinaigrette.   Yummy!
