Fall Fun
October 11, 2013 - Rainy Day? No problem! After snack, the weather let up long enough for the gardeners to visit the raised bed vegetable garden. Lettuces planted the first day looked wonderful, and some of the seeds planted a few weeks ago have begun to sprout. Given the cool, rainy weather, the gardeners made good use of Gardner Hall, taking an afternoon to decorate pumpkins. Pumpkins will be on display in front of the school buildings until October 31st, when the gardeners will be taking them home. Be sure to look for your child's pumpkin if you visit the school during the next few weeks!
Looking at Those Lettuce Plants
Spending a little time outdoors seemed to agree with everyone! The gardeners remembered where they had planted lettuce on the first day of Garden Club, and they were able to observe noticeable growth.

Choosing a Pumpkin!
Each gardener had the opportunity to choose a pumpkin of his or her very own. They made quick work of selecting a pumpkin, so that they could move on to decorating!

Embellishing the Pumpkins
The gardeners spent a bit of time looking at all of the different options for decorating the exterior of a pumpkin. Would it be paint, tissue paper, ribbons, buttons, flowers, witch hat, tooth picks, sequins? Yes!
