A beautiful day to garden!
What a gorgeous day to be out in the garden! We were so lucky to have two visitors. Sheridan brought her Grandfather, Jim, and Tina brought another master gardener, Regina Howell. They both jumped right in to work with the kids! We hope they come back again.
First Things First - WeedingAfter a long summer of neglect, our garden needed some tending to. We needed to harvest some plants, pull some weeds, and make room for some new plants. Mrs. Wagner lead the group to decide what to keep and what to pull. We also learned "not" to first pull something before asking "Should we keep this?" There were some really gnarly roots that required hard work and teamwork to pull up.
PlantingTina, our resident Master Gardener, brought radish and lettuce seeds. The kids first prepared the soil, by loosening it up, then they created shallow trenches for the their seeds. Mother nature watered the plants in the evening with a gentle shower.

CrittersWe found lots of critters in our garden! Some good, some not so good. Here are just a few photos.
Next WeekWeather permitting, we'll be harvesting the kale and planting more plants.
