HarvestingThe kids harvested some tomatoes, green peppers, and lemon balm. The kids loved the sweet smell of the lemon balm leaves.
ThinningRadishes are a fast and easy growing vegetable and love the cool weather. Ours have been growing great and already needed thinning.
Photo OpI couldn't resist taking a photo of Larrisa's cool socks. I want a pair!

Christmas Cactus and Spider PlantsTina talked to the kids about how different plants propagate (multiply). She reminded them that we planted radish and lettuce seeds in our vegetable garden and then explained that not all plants are propagated from seed.
During the earthquake, Tina's Christmas Cactus fell over and some of the leaves broke off. She put the leaves between some wet paper towels and roots began to grow. The kids took them and planted them in small pots to take home. She brought her Spider Plant to show the kids how it propagates. The Spider Plant sends off runners and starts new plants at the end of it. She broke off the little Spider plants and let the kids plant them in small pots to take home. Critter CornerThe kids found this cool "Tomato Horn Worm" on our tomato plant.
Next WeekNext week we'll start planning and planting our Divide and Multiply garden! So please send in your plants and be a part of our school garden.
