The Pizza Garden
April 15, 2016 - What a beautiful day for weeding and planting! The gardeners spent some time hearing from Master Gardener Mrs. Regina about some surprises growing in the raised beds, how to harvest the volunteer plants while leaving the strawberry plants, and what to sow early in spring for a pizza garden this summer.
Step 1: Clear Out the Weeds and "Volunteers"The gardeners found some volunteer carrots growing in the raised beds. Lucky for the gardeners, there were plenty of carrots to go around. Gardeners learned from Mrs. Regina a technique for finessing the carrots out without breaking them, with happy results!

Step 2: Plant Onion Sets for the Pizza Garden
Mrs. Regina explained that it is too early to plant many of the vegetables and herbs we like to use to make pizza. It is not too early to plant onions! The gardeners used onions sets because growing onions from seed presents more difficulties.
